Showcasing
The endless supply of ideas and tutorials on the web and in the blogging world constantly amazes me in it's generosity of time and creativity. This little number I've been working on this week was an idea first shared by Purl Bee (they have other pretty amazing tutorials you should check out as well).
Most of the fabrics showcased are a mixture of feed-sack reproductions of the 1930's, Heather Baily prints and a few randomly beautiful designs thrown in for good measure. They're hung above the kitchen sink with the spotlight of the kitchen window, perfectly positioned to offer something beautiful to gaze at while I'm engaged in a few of the less savory of chores.
I really love this project and all the light and color it brings to the kitchen. I've been trying to add touches of art and girlie-ness here and there and I think it's having a positive impact on the over all snuggle-ness factor of the house.
...it just so happens that the hubs loves them too, which makes it all the sweeter.

I love the way they came out! Beautiful! I actually have one of those fabrics myself (the green and lime-ish one, from Purl)...

That looks so good! I've seen some of those tutorials before and wanted to try that...now I'm even more inspired. An especially good idea for those few scraps of fabric hanging around that you can't quite bring yourself to throw away but won't work for much else.

i loved this project when I saw it at Purl Bee, but I love it even more in someone's real home! it's wonderful. I think I may need to do the same in our bedroom.

Beautiful. And finally! A project involving super-lovely fabrics that *doesn't* require one to have sew-y mojo! I am all over that embroidery hoop action.

That is fabulous. So often, the most beautiful things are the most simple. . .
